Dental Technology

3-D Imaging

3D intra oral scanning replaces traditional dental impressions. The True Definition scanner uses a video wand in the mouth to generate a true replica of the oral anatomy. The comfort offers greater patient satisfaction than impressions, and the images lead to digital fabrication of dental products that are unparalleled in accuracy of fit and function.

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems. Detecting issues with x-rays before they become problematic can save you money in the long run. Early detection can help prevent the need for more extensive, expensive procedures or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to detect:

  • Internal tooth decay
  • Cysts (fluid-filled sacks at the base of your teeth)
  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous
  • Impacted teeth
  • Teeth that are still coming in

Microscopic Dentistry

The dental microscope is used to see and define dental problems like never before. Using a microscope during treatment is an advancement that allows us to see better and have greater control over our instruments to provide more precise and less invasive dental procedures. The mouth is a small, dark environment where we do highly complex work. With a much higher level of magnification and illumination, far more detail can be seen and understood, and therefore better work can be accomplished. Seeing better makes us work better!

Lasers in Dentistry

A dental Laser is a precision dental instrument that provides a precise energy to be applied in a specific manner. This allows the practitioner at Uptown Family Dental to provide minimally invasive dentistry, killing bacteria and making tissue cuts with minimal discomfort and no stitches.
